Yes. It is highly recommended all guests take out appropriate travel insurance policies once a reservation has been made. If your cruise itinerary includes New Caledonia, you may be refused entry to the port without Travel Insurance, as local government regulation now requires it for all visitors.
Australian Medicare, New Zealand ACC and private health insurance will not cover you for any medical costs or emergency evacuations on board, even on domestic cruises. Insurance policies may also protect your possessions on board; provide cancellation cover if certain circumstances cause you to miss the cruise or a pre-paid tour; and provide other forms of protection. It is the guests’ responsibility to select the most appropriate policy from an insurance provider.
