PLAN AHEAD

While we don't require information about the extent of your disability, the more information you can share with us about your specific needs, the better we are able to assist you. For your convenience, please see link below for the 'List of Equipment and Services Requiring Advanced Notice'. Please note that 60 days' advanced notice is needed for sign-language interpreting and 30 days' advanced notice if you need special-needs equipment or services. You must provide 72 hours' advance notice if you are travelling with a group of 10 or more passengers with disabilities. If we do not receive enough advance notice, we will make reasonable efforts to provide requested equipment and/or services.

LIST OF EQUIPMENT AND SERVICES REQUIRING ADVANCE NOTICE

DIALYSIS & OXYGEN

Guests with medical conditions that require the use of dialysis or oxygen should contact us to discuss policies and procedures for bringing the appropriate equipment onboard. Guests requiring continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis are welcome to board all Royal Caribbean International® vessels. However, Royal Caribbean does not have the ability to assist or administer haemodialysis treatments.

Those guests using peritoneal dialysis should have all solutions and equipment needed to perform the dialysis delivered to the vessel on the day of sailing at least two hours prior to sailing. Please contact us for more information on policies and procedures.

All types of oxygen are permitted onboard. Please notify us as to quantity, type and delivery schedule. Each vessel has a different storage policy; however, you will be able to keep some or all of your cylinders in the stateroom.

CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES

Royal Caribbean welcomes children with disabilities, especially in our fun-filled Adventure Ocean program Upon request, every effort will be made to provide reasonable accommodations that will meet the needs of children with disabilities. Some of these accommodations can include:

  • Adventure Ocean grouping by ability (rather than age)
  • Adventure Ocean toilet-trained policy exception
  • Pagers for parents of children in the Adventure Ocean program
  • Babysitting Services

All Youth staff are required to have a four-year university degree or international equivalent in education, recreation or a related field. They also have at least three to five years qualified experience in working with children ages six months to 17 years.

In addition, all Youth staff have received autism-awareness training developed by Autism on the Seas. This training covers the following topics: characteristics of autism and developmental disabilities, correct person-first language and terms, and the skills to initiate a conversation with a parent about his or her child’s needs.


PREGNANCY

A fit-to-travel letter from the doctor is not required to sail. Our guests cannot be entering, or have entered, the 24th week of pregnancy on the first day of sailing or cruisetour.

Guests will be required to fill in a Public Health Questionnaire at the pier attesting that they have not entered the 24th week.

COGNITIVE, INTELLECTUAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES

Royal Caribbean welcomes guests with cognitive, intellectual and development disabilities such as autism, cerebral palsy, Down's syndrome and Alzheimer's disease. Upon request, every effort will be made to provide reasonable accommodations that will meet the needs of guests with these disabilities. Some of these accommodations can include: early boarding, boarding & departure assistance, early disembarkation and special dietary needs.

ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE

 
Feel free to ask for a Complaint Resolution Official (CRO). Our CROs have been trained and are aware of applicable U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) disability regulations as well as our policies and procedures regarding guests with disabilities. Our CROs are available at all U.S ports of departure and ships.
