My name is Elena Rasmussen.
What was the path that brought you to your current position?
I started with Royal Caribbean in 2004 as a Cruise Programme Administrator but I discovered this job two years ago. I started first as a helper and here I am, a Loyalty and Cruise Sales Manager.
Can you tell us about a moment when you went above and beyond to meet a Crown & Anchor member's needs?
I remember a moment when I went above and beyond for a Crown & Anchor member on the Enchantment of the Seas. There was a Brazilian guest who only spoke Portuguese. I don't speak Portuguese but I managed to understand that he was unhappy with the dining room staff because no one could understand him. I went to the Maître D who happened to speak Portuguese and arranged for him to meet this member and welcome them to the dining room. The next time I saw the guest he was very, very happy.
Guests must ask your advice quite frequently. What insider tips about your ship or destinations do you share with the Crown & Anchor members?
A new itinerary that I would love to recommend is Australia. Next year we will have two ships sailing this exciting itinerary.
If a Crown & Anchor member said that they could go on any ship, any itinerary, any length of time, any destination what would you recommend?
I think I would recommend Asia. It is such a new and exciting destination.
You attend several receptions and parties on board. Which one do you most look forward to?
My favourite event on board is the Welcome back Party because it's my opportunity to introduce myself to all the Crown & Anchor guests and to get to meet as many of them as possible.
What's your favourite part about your job?
My favourite part about my job is that I meet new people every day and I'm trying to make their holiday experience as pleasant as possible.
Crown & Anchor members are probably very interested in your personal life. Is there any one question that you are frequently asked?
Normally they look at my name and they look at my country, Romania, and they don't quite match so they always ask about it.
What might guests be surprised to learn about you? Do you have any hidden talents or interesting hobbies?
I have a hidden talent that might surprise guests. I love to design formal dresses for myself. Guests have asked me to design dresses for them but I never have…I only design for myself.
What in your own words do Crown & Anchor members mean to Royal Caribbean?
The Crown & Anchor members are very valuable assets to Royal Caribbean.
To all our Crown & Anchor members I look forward to seeing you on one of our future cruises.
